A big piratey arrgggghhhhh to everyone who came and got down at the Stab Soft On presented by El Nino last Saturday.. There were certainly some super impressive pirates and think its fair to say that fun was had by all.. It was a day of foam ride’n, soft slide’n & freestyle surfside piracy.

In the end it reigning Soft On champion Perth Standlick who took out Softest Overall for his futuristic soft slide’n sensibilities, a young Jack Sparrow who took home Softest Style for his ‘point the chicken’ style approach to foam shredding, Tristen with the Softest Stab award for impressing all day long and a super piratey faux iron chain sporting Corbin Harris who took out the Softest Pirate accolade.

Big thanks to Juzzi & Chris from Knack Studios for shooting photo’s all day from in & outta the water.. There are some truly hot shots which you can peep here

Pop-Up Cinema is a vision to film screenings to less expected off-beat locations around Bondi. In this first installment tonight we bring you a free party style outdoor screening of Talyor Steel’s surf-art-travel documentary masterpiece ‘Sipping Jetstream‘ and Kai Neville’s future classic ‘Modern Collective‘.

Please understand that this ts a limited capacity screening.

Well here it is the official registration form & waiver for The Stab Soft On presented by El Nino. I’ve already received some 40+ confirmed expressions of interest from local Bondi pirates so if your interested in participating be sure to download, sign & email me back your registration asap (darryl@rodriguezandcompany.com). Alternatively shoot me an email confirming participation & then bring yourregistration form along on the day (between 9am – 9:30am). Easy!

Don’t forget that its strictly pirate dress required and that you should have a pirate name ready too.

Awards will be bestowed in each of the following categories;

Softest Pirate
Softest Style
Softest Stab
Softest Overall

Entry is $20 clams (clams on the day please) which will get you a sweet little Sizzle pack too..

Please come down to the grassy knoll between 9am – 9:30am so we’re set to slide for a 10am kickoff..

Garage Sale Trail Registrations Open Until 8pm Thursday May-6

Garage Sale Trail registrations will be open until 6pm tomorrow (Thursday May-6). This means you’ll get included on the A3 map that’s being produced and distributed via participating Community Card outlets Bondi-wide this Thursday May-6.

Graffiti Wall Announcement from Waverley Council

The Sizzle Graffiti Mural Wall event scheduled for Saturday 8 May was cancelled by Council and the Sizzle organisers when it was drawn to their attention that local artists were unaware of this event and expressed a desire to participate.

As many local artists as possible have since been contacted by email and invited to apply for a permit to display their artwork as per Council’s policy. Luckily, some of these artists have responded quickly and will be painting on the freshly whitewashed walls this weekend. Council had commenced to paint the walls in preparation for the Sizzle Festival and is pleased to see that the walls will once again be vibrant and reflecting our
creative culture.

Council’s policy to help manage the popularity of decorating this wall is that artworks may be replaced every six months except for the two iconic pieces - the Bali bombing artwork and the ANZAC mural. Council permits issued to artists clearly indicates that the pieces are temporary and may remain on the wall for a minimum of sixth months. Council has always reserved the right to paint over the murals at any time due to the coastal environment. This turnover keeps the wall looking fresh and gives more artists, including younger and up-an-coming artists an opportunity to display their artwork at this iconic location.

Jeremyville x Sizzle Ltd Edition Street Poster

Super talented artist & long term Bondi local Jeremy got in touch to express his support for Sizzle and kindly threw down his own interpretation of our Bondi Beach Community Festival. I love it and am having 250 limited edition A1 posters screen printed up.. They’re gonna look dope and you can expect to see a few around town over the next few days. We’ll have 50 available for the first 50 cats through the doors at the Garage Nites Party, Saturday May-8 from 8pm. Jeremyville will also be exhibiting as part of the Garage Art Exhibition
